EDM #84 - Draw some bread

I'm not sure whether to work this up some more or to leave it. I don't want it to get too dark and the plastic bag loose its transparency, but then again at the moment the bread rolls look rather insubstantial. I shall leave it for now, then think about it later.

  1. I like it as it is =) But whatever you would want to add still is perfectly fine because I am sure it'll turn out good since the outlines are already so well done

  2. It's always better to put it aside and look at it with fresh eyes, but I was enjoying it as it is.

  3. Your hatching lines are very well placed! I think it is fine as is!

  4. Yes, me too. I have spoilt things so many times before by fiddling too much. I'm learing to leave things at the stage where I wonder if they might be finished rather than wish I had stopped earlier. Having said that, if you do decide to add some more tone, it would be good if you would post the result because it will be interesting to compare the results!

  5. I think it's good to leave things for a while - or you could always do another drawing. I like your hatching and I don't think it needs to be heavier.

  6. I'm no expert but....when I enlarged it I thought it could use some more shadowing to make it look 3D.
Can we see it again if you decide to do more?
This is only a beginners opinion-don't take too seriously, ok?
    Thanks!!!!

  7. I think the advice about leaving it alone for awhile and then revisiting it sounds right to me. I like what you have done - the hatching is really good! nancy

  8. You've done great on this. Let it sit and ferment a bit. When you get tired of batting away the fruit flies, draw it again in pencil and maybe add a cast shadow. See if you like the form anchored to something underneath. You are already doing great with pen and ink line.

  10. Always the big question, when to stop. So many times we do not let our instinct talk. I like your sketch this way.

  11. Thanks everyone for your opinions - the majority seems to be with leaving it.

I may follow Carrie's suggestion and draw it again with more shadows etc... Although I will have to buy some more bread rolls as I've eaten these ones.
