The Grandfather

The Grandfather. 240 x 330mm, Pen & ink. ©Sue Pownall 2012
Started on the 10th June, I finished the 5th Festival Face on the 29th, so it took about the same amount of time as the 1st one, His Brother's Musar.

The WIP photos are below. I've been using Instagram to record all recent drawings, and thought I'd share them here too.

    1. Have to start with the eyes, if those go wrong then it's all downhill.

  6. This is wonderful Sue... I can't imagine starting there with the eyes, but I have seen one other amazing artist start that way and sort of work out.

  8. Marvelous drawing. I like the simplicity of your approach. The eyes speak volumes and your rendering of the texture of his skin is brilliant.

  9. Wow, such a delicately drawn piece and yet his face is full of his long life and of wisdom too. I was interested that you start with the eyes too, but aren't they supposed to be the mirrors of our souls? Lovely work Sue :)
