I have always drawn since my mum and dad gave me my first crayon and piece of paper, and only once drew on something I shouldn't have - mum's cookbook. I attended art college in Colchester then Plymouth, UK way-back-when and after working as a graphic designer for about 8 years left the art world. Since then, I have continued to sketch and produce the occasional finished artwork in a limited way until I started this blog in September 2009. This blog and the wonderful comments I have received has inspired me to seriously relook at my art, re-evaluate what I want to do, and how I want to do it.
Since 2010, I have been participating in exhibitions including the Trans-Siberian Art Centre's train exhibition Russia to China. Also, I have published books of my illustration & photos from Khartoum and Cuba. Moreover, in 2011 I had features in both a magazine & newspapers. Finally, my illustrations have been commissioned from various sources, with the latest ones for Qatar Museum Authority. You can view some of the commissions on this blog by using the Past commissions tab.
I've always been a bit of a nomad and as I wander from country-to-country, I am inspired to sketch, draw and paint the world around me. Finally, my preferred medium is pen & ink, but I have been experimenting here with others.
Testimonials:
"I own two pieces of Sue's art - one of her stunning drawings and one of her abstract paintings. I would like to collect more of her drawings." January 2011 John Fagan.
“Inspiration is what an artist seeks and it was in Sue, that I finally found it. She’s been a true influence and someone whose passion for art and photography had helped awaken a talent of mine. Thank you Sue!” December 2010 Mahmoud Jahami.
