Another Omani scene which has just been delivered to the gallery.
I believe it will be hung after Ramadan/the summer.

| I used Instagram for this WIP. |
With my previous boat drawing Preparing to Fish, John of JWJArts asked why I chose the shady side to draw. I didn't really know, but as I drew this one, I realised it's because its tonally more interesting. Besides, this way it captures some of the essence of the burning sunshine too.
I have to confess that this is not a favourite piece out of those I have done so far this year.

What do you think?

I love it! Great perspective, and exquisite line work! Love the instagram, too! ;)
ReplyDeleteIsn't Instagram just the best app?!
DeleteIt's beautiful, I love your work.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and your kind comments Christine.
DeleteIts a wonderful drawing. Clean lines and beautifully drawn.
ReplyDeleteAs a great admirer of your boat paintings, I really appreciate your comment Jeanette.
DeleteI always like boats...especially yours
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa and Don. Great to have you both here.
ReplyDeleteAs the only qualified shipwright in these parts :0) I can tell you that boats are hard to draw (but you will know that) and lots of people fail. I think your drawing is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI'm very flattered John.
DeleteWow Sue! I think it's wonderful. I agree with John... exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI actually like it, Sue, because it's a different kind of look. I do agree with John... it is exquisite!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marian.
DeleteI still don't like it but as you say maybe it's because it's a different look.
I think it’s great. The shady side is always more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think its great Sue, and lovely sketches below.
ReplyDeleteGreat! I love the shadow side and particularly the black and white one. The lines of the shadows are pure and perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's odd, because it's one of mine! I love boats so maybe that's why :0)
ReplyDeleteThat's very kind of you Sandra :)
DeleteHi, Sue! I glance at your blog on my list every time you post but don't take the time to comment much! This boat drawing is gorgeous! You HAD to draw the shadow side, absolutely! Well, I didn't see the sunny side but there is so much to see here. I am impressed with the effort you put into your art.
ReplyDeleteYou read my life "description" on Marian's blog and all this moving stuff will be crazy for another month anyway. This week I think we're moving to camp out at the new place! Driving the 30 miles both ways almost every day while keeping our beach place ready for realtors to show gets very old so we thought we'd settle in the new place.
I haven't gone away, just busy. I'll check in later.
Yeah missed you!
DeleteThank you so much Shelley.
Here at last having a lovely catch up of your always delightful art Sue.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine why you don't like this one as much - I think it is stunning - both the composition and the pen work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan. I think it may be as Marian said it's because it's a different look.
DeleteThank you everyone who I haven't personally replied to. I am flattered with all your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork... fabulous...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Buenos Aires...

How come it's not a favourite? It's amazing! I love the way you cross hatched an how you made the folds and shadows in the fabric look. Great drawing.
ReplyDeleteThis would have to be one of my favourites, love the line work and shadows!
ReplyDeleteI nearly missed this one, and after you going to the trouble to answer my question too. lol. This is definitely one of MY favourites and I love everything about it.
